 A Tradition of Service

For over 25 years, Southeast Mental Health Center has served Shelby County. We are the only county-wide mental health facility, the largest Medicare provider, and the largest provider of mental healthcare services for children in Memphis. Southeast Mental Health Center offers a full range of cost-effective out-patient services. Southeast Mental Health Center strives to meet the varied needs of our diverse community.

 A Dedication to Quality

Southeast Mental Health Center has a complete staff of caring licensed professionals from a wide variety of disciplines. Psychiatrists, psychologists, physicians, nurses, social workers, rehabilitation counselors, and teachers are all integral to our extensive range of services. Our dedication to complete patient confidentiality regarding our patients and their treatments is kept in the strictest confidence and is released only by specific request or personal request unless such is required by law.

 Responsible Resource Management

Southeast  Mental Health Center is a non-profit organization devoted to providing quality mental healthcare in the most cost-effective manner possible. We accept a variety of private, corporate, and government insurance plans including Medicare, Medicaid, and TennCare.

Psychiatric Services include Psychiatric evaluation and examination, nursing services, chemotherapy and pharmacy services and medication monitoring.

Individual and Group Psychotherapy are forms of therapy in which people discuss their problems either one-to-one with a therapist or in a group with each other under the guidance of a therapist to work on solving individual problems.

Family/Marriage Counseling promotes communication skills between couples and among family members. Therapists trained in family and couple counseling meet with individuals and with the family as a whole in order to resolve their problems.

Liaison Services provides a coordination of services and eases transition from inpatient care or jail incarceration to outpatient care. Southeast is the county-wide coordinator of both hospital and jail liaison services.

Case Management is offered county-wide to adults exhibiting serious and persistent mental illness and children with emotional problems.

Alcohol & Drug Treatment Services provide referrals for detoxification, focus groups that allow patients to develop and discuss the use of relapse prevention skills, and to learn ways to abstain from substance abuse. Focus groups are available to those diagnosed with both substance abuse and mental illness. Pregnant women are considered a priority population for alcohol and drug treatment services.

Intensive Support Focus Groups are aimed at providing social skills to youths between the ages of 12-18 who are at risk of substance abuse.

Independent and Supportive Living Facilities. Southeast Mental Health Center provides over 100 beds in residential settings throughout Shelby County. The supportive living facilities serve a population of individuals transitioning from a long term hospitalization back into a community setting. Southeast Mental Health Center operates a full range of housing facilities.

Employee Assistance Programs are designed to aid employees who have been identified as having work-related problems. These problems can include reactions to personal, family, or non-work problems that cause a decrease in performance efficiency, work withdrawal, or on-the-job interpersonal problems.
